Luis Alberto Suárez Díaz was born on January 24, 1987 in Salto, Uruguay. He is a Uruguayan soccer player who plays as a striker for FC Barcelona and the Uruguayan national team. Suárez moved to the Netherlands to play for Groningen in the Eredivisie in 2006. Suárez then transferred to Ajax in 2007.

In 2008-09, he became Ajax Player of the Year. The following year, he served as captain of Ajax. Suarez was also the league's top scorer with 35 goals in 33 matches and won the Dutch Footballer of the Year. He scored 49 goals in all competitions and Ajax won the KNVB Cup.
