Edin Dzeko was born on March 17, 1986 in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia. He is a professional soccer player who plays as a striker for Manchester City FC in the English Premier League and the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Dzeko started his soccer career at the club Željezničar from 2003-2005. While there, he played as a midfielder and not so successful in the position. Her body was deemed too high and less qualified in terms of technique.

Dzeko then moved to a club in the Czech Republic, FK Teplice. However, he was loaned to Ústí nad Labem. During the loan period he scored six goals in 15 appearances. A year later, he returned to FK Teplice and played until 2007, scored 13 goals from 30 matches. He became a top score of Gambrinus Liga 2006-07 season. Thanks to his performance, VfL Wolfsburg keen to sign him at a cost of 4 million Euros.

In 2009, Dzeko and Wolfsburg won their first Bundesliga title. Dzeko scored a total of 26 goals and 10 assists in the league of 32 matches. He along with his teammate, Grafite, became the most successful attacking duo in Bundesliga history.

On August 28, 2010, Dzeko became the league's highest scorer in the club's history with a record of 59 goals from 96 appearances. He broke the record belongs to Diego Klimowicz who scored 57 goals from 149 matches.

On January 3, 2011, Dzeko officially moved to Manchester City for a fee of 27 million pounds (32 million euros). It became the second highest transfer record for the City, after the transfer of Robinho from Real Madrid in 2008 amounted to 32.5 million pounds (42.5 jut euros). It also broke the Bundesliga transfer record.

On 8 September 2012, Dzeko scored his first hat-trick for the national team against Liechtenstein. At the same time, his name was also recorded in the history of Bosnia-Herzegovina national team top scorer with 24 goals. The previous record was held by Elvir Bolic with a record 22 goals. He has recorded 55 caps for Bosnia-Herzegovina.
