Vincent Kompany was born on 10 April 1986 in Uccle, Brussels, Belgium. He is a Belgian professional soccer player who plays as a central defender and defensive midfielder for Manchester City and the Belgium national team.
Kompany started his soccer career at Anderlecht and spent three years at the Belgian club before moving to German Bundesliga club Hamburger SV in 2006. In the summer of 2008, at the age of 22, he completed a transfer to Manchester City.
He has since established himself as an integral part of the Manchester City squad and developed into one of the best central defenders the Premier League. Kompany was included in the Premier League Team of the Year for two consecutive years in 2011 and 2012 and in the team in 2014.
He won the Premier League Player of the Season in 2012 and was recorded as 23 of the 100 best players in the world, released by The Guardian.
In the 2011-12 season, he was awarded as the captain of Manchester City, led his club to win the Premier League that season, their first league title in 44 years.
