Pablo Javier Zabaleta Girod was born on January 16, 1985 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He is a soccer player who plays as a right defender for club Manchester City and the Argentine national team.
Zabaleta started his soccer career at Club AtlĂ©tico San Lorenzo de Almagro in 2002. He then moved to RCD Espanyol in 2005 with a transfer price of € 3 million.
He had been captain of the Argentine U-20 national team in the World Cup FIFA U-20 in 2005, which became the champion. In January 2007, he suffered a shoulder injury that led him to leave the field for almost 3 months, when he had established himself as the team's main option.
In the summer of 2008, Zabaleta transferred to Premier League club, Manchester City. After passing a medical and agreeing personal terms, Zabaleta completed a five-year deal to play with Manchester City on December 31, 2008, he scored his first goal for the Citizens on January 17, 2009.
He was also a member of the Gold Medal winning team at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and played in all 6 games. Currently, Zabaleta has 35 caps for the senior national team of Argentina.
