Tiago Cardoso Mendes was born on May 3, 1981 in Viana do Castelo, Portugal. He is a Portuguese soccer player who plays as a midfielder for Atlético Madrid.
Tiago started his soccer career with Braga in the Portuguese League for three seasons. In the 2002 season, he moved to Benfica and played for the club for two seasons.
Chelsea then recruited him in 2004, however, Tiago played only one season with the Blues. He then moved to French Ligue 1, and played for Lyon for two seasons.
Tiago then moved to Italian Serie A with Juventus from 2007 to 2011. In the 2009-2011 season, he was loaned out to Atletico Madrid. Atletico then recruited Tiago permanently in 2011.
