Pepe is also a defender for the national team of Portugal in various international matches. He began his career with the national team in 2007. He played in the Portuguese Liga with Maritimo and Porto from 2001 to 2007. In 2007, Pepe moved to wealthy Spanish football club, Real Madrid.
