Fabio Alexandre da Silva Coentrao was born on March 11, 1988 in Vila do Conde, Porto District, Portugal. He is a Portuguese soccer player. He plays as a wing defender. Fabio currently plays for Real Madrid and the Portuguese national team.

Fabio Coentrao started a career of professional soccer in the Portuguese league with Benfica and Rio Ave from 2005 to 2011. Fábio was loaned to Nacional, Real Zaragoza, and Rio Ave when he was at Benfica. He then moved to Real Madrid in 2011.

Fabio Coentrao has been playing for the Portuguese national team since 2005, when he played for the U-18 national team of Portugal. Overall, he has scored 12 goals for the national team of Portugal at various ages (5 for U-19 teams, 6 for the U-21, and 1 for senior national team). He also played for Portugal in the FIFA World Cup U-20 2007 and FIFA World Cup 2010 in South Africa.
